Corolla Surfing

Before I want on vacation, my mom specifically said “No surfing, Jill.  And be careful of sharks”.   I couldn’t resist though.  Thanks to Rodney for holding the surf board for all the kids and Kate and I.  And thank you Kate for being photographer again!  And let’s not forget the observers from the beach.

As I was laying on the board, waiting for the wave, I’m thinking “How am I possibly going to get my upper buddy lifted off this board”.  Needless to say, I instantly thought that I needed to work on my arm muscles.  Even thinking about getting one foot back and both pointed out, and not forward?  Impossible.  It was all about just getting up.  And then falling right over into the water.

I am going to be honest, I’m quite proud of myself here!

Corolla 2013

IMG_2282You know it’s a great vacation when you lose track of days.  Really, I lost track of days. Tuesday, Wednesday…it didn’t matter.  It was another day with friends, the kids, the beach, the pool and a glass of wine.   This was the 4th year, and we had friends from Minnesota join us.  Lost of great shots from the week, so expect a few days of vacation pics.  You’ll want to come back for me surfing, the wild horses and the Brew Thru trip!  And don’t think I didn’t eat doughnuts, that will be coming as well.

We had a big crew:  8 adults and 6 kids.  This was our outing to the Christmas store, coffee shop and brewery on a rainy day.

Sunrise, sunset, the moon…

And lots of coffee every morning.  I discovered Sweet Italian Cream this week.  Oh, so good.

OBX. Coming.

Vacation is just around the corner.  And there is nothing better than felling everything is in order at work, files are prepped, people are aware.  And I have a dedicated back up so no checking email.

Here’s hoping to no hurricanes.  Just fun, sun (well, shade) and a little bit of wine.  It’s been a little quiet in August. You could say I’m taking a break from technology.  Magazines and books.  I’m going old school next week.

And if you want to be reminded how little vacation we have compared to other countries, here you go.  The one interesting thing they point out is that you get WEEKS of happiness just looking forward to vacation.  Yup!
