Citi Bike Share. Love it.

I can’t say enough good things about the Citi Bike Share.

I’ve taken 28 trips in the 1.5 weeks I’ve been using it.  My ride home from the gym is 8 minutes versus a 20 minute walk.  I explored more of the city in one day than I ever would have been able to before:  Chelsea for Coffee, Tribeca to the Whole Foods, over to Soho, back home, then back from dinner.  We’ve only gotten to a completely empty station once.  And a few times the bikes didn’t check in immediately.  But I’ve seen bike share trucks 3x now and talked to an ambassador just making sure everything was working well.

I’m a big fan of the helmet, which isn’t great for the hair.  But I don’t want to crack my head open on the sidewalk.  My favorite place to bike?  The dedicated bike lanes on 8th and 9th Avenues and through the West Village.

Just a few shots of us over the long Fourth of July weekend and the sites we saw.  And the places we stopped to eat.   And yes, the Antelope tacos were DELICIOUS!

The Bikes are Here!

The bikes are here!  The 6,000 bikes made their way to the stations while we were out in California.  Annual members got to test them out today.  There are 14,000 annual members (2 more to come, we just haven’t gotten our city helmets yet!).  We’ve already decided we can ride them to the gym, to coffee, to the Green Market.  I think we can put them to use.  We’ll have to see how the city embraces them.
