When I read Smorgasburg was back, I put in on the calendar. It’s the outdoor food fair on the East River in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Everything local, artisanal and small batch. And some really really good food. We went last year in July, much further into the season.
We started out splitting falafal by Saucy by Nature: quinoa falafal with cilantro lime sauce and some sort of hot pickle. The sharing helps because then I can sample more.
Then we split a brisket sandwich from Lonestar Empire. We dressed it up with pickles, onions, jalapenos, and sauce.
We finished off lunch with an ice cream sandwich from The Good Batch. We had the Goodwich: oat chocolate chunk cookie w/ sea salt, drizzled with fudge and vanilla ice cream. I loved the salt on the cookie, it made a great balance with all the sweetness. Again, good to split!
